Engineered for the Most Demanding Environments

Refinery operations demand pumps that can handle aggressive slurries, high temperatures, and fluctuating flow conditions.

Our slurry pumps are designed to meet these challenges, offering unparalleled durability and efficiency in applications across delayed coker units, fluid catalytic cracking units, water treatment plants, and stormwater sumps.

Abrasive Coke Slurries & High-Temperature Fluids

Hevvy Toyo’s slurry pumps, built with HCr metallurgy and heavy-duty agitators, resist extreme abrasion while keeping solids in suspension to prevent clogging. Our submersible and cantilever designs eliminate submerged bearings and seals, reducing maintenance and ensuring continuous, reliable operation.

High-Performance in Critical FCCU Applications

FCCU processes produce fine catalyst slurries that cause severe pump wear and clogging. Hevvy Toyo’s abrasion-resistant pumps, designed for wet gas scrubbers, PTU blowdown sumps, and area sumps, feature optimized hydraulics and large open passages for superior solids handling.

Reliable for Solids-Laden Water Handling

Refinery water treatment requires pumps that can handle thick sludge, high solids, and corrosive fluids. With reliable performance in high-viscosity and chemical-laden environments, our pumps reduce maintenance and optimize refinery water treatment efficiency.

Preventing Sediment Buildup & Ensuring Compliance

Refineries must manage stormwater runoff to prevent sediment accumulation and meet environmental regulations. Our heavy-duty slurry pumps efficiently remove solids-laden runoff, preventing system blockages and maintaining compliance with refinery wastewater discharge standards.

Harnessing the benefits of using an hydraulically-driven pump in a hot coker maze application

A major American petroleum company had an issue in one of their refineries with a previously installed submersible pumping solution which was powered by a stationary, electrically-driven hydraulic power pack. The submersible pumps they were using could not handle the amount of solids present at times and this was leading to clogging as well as accelerated pump wear.

Hevvy/Toyo’s engineering team came up with a solution that utilized the existing power pack to both facilitate the installation of a heavy-duty HNS submersible slurry pump and also take advantage of the inherent benefits provided by a hydraulic set up can in these hot applications.

The existing 25 feet hydraulic line was long enough to give the necessary amount of time for the hydraulic oil to cool down before reaching the power pack.

The pump exceeded the refinery’s expectations: pumping a much higher concentration of solids content running for over 18 months with 0 issue or even the need for inspection.

Designed for Durability, Reliability, and Maximum Uptime

Our solutions provide superior resistance to wear, high solids handling capability, and extended operational life.

Hevvy/Toyo Pumps incorporates industry-leading materials and engineering to withstand the most extreme conditions found in refinery operations.

Extreme Wear Resistance for High-Solids Applications

High Chrome (HCr) metallurgy offers superior resistance to abrasion and corrosion, significantly extending pump life in applications where standard materials fail. With a hardness rating exceeding 600 Brinell, our HCr components provide unmatched durability in coke fines, catalyst slurries, and wastewater applications.

Preventing Settling & Maximizing Pump Efficiency

Our proprietary agitator technology actively breaks up settled solids, keeping them in suspension to prevent clogging and ensure consistent flow. This feature is critical in refinery applications where thick, abrasive slurries tend to settle in sumps and tanks, leading to costly downtime and manual cleaning.

Engineered for the Harshest Slurries

Our pumps are designed to handle high solids concentrations, often exceeding 70% by weight, and large particle sizes that would quickly damage standard pumps. Our open impeller designs and oversized flow passages reduce the risk of clogging, ensuring reliable operation in highly abrasive and coarse slurry applications.

Reducing Risk & Optimizing Performance

We offer flexible rental and trial programs, allowing customers to evaluate our pumps in their specific applications before making a full investment. This ensures optimal selection and performance, providing a cost-effective way to transition to Hev

Eliminating Common Refinery Pumping Challenges

Our pumps are designed to address common reliability issues, reducing the total cost of ownership by minimizing maintenance, downtime, and replacement costs.

Extending Pump Life & Reducing Downtime

Refinery slurries, particularly those containing coke fines and catalyst particles, are notorious for causing rapid pump wear and plugging. Our HCr metallurgy, combined with advanced impeller and casing designs, provides superior abrasion resistance and mitigates material buildup, ensuring long-term reliability in abrasive applications.

Eliminating Complex & High-Maintenance Systems

Line shaft pumps often require additional bearings, bushings, and mechanical seals below the baseplate, leading to frequent maintenance and increased failure risks. Hevvy Toyo’s submersible and cantilever pumps eliminate these components, reducing failure points and simplifying system design while ensuring reliable operation in deep sumps.

Extended Run-Dry Capabilities Even in Tough Environments

Refinery applications experience fluctuating sump levels, which can cause standard pumps to run dry and fail. Our advanced submersible designs include run-dry capable motors and specialized lubrication systems, allowing for extended or even indefinite dry-running without damage, ensuring continuous operation under varying conditions.

A Long-Term Solution That Pays for Itself

Many refineries rely on short-term rental pumps due to frequent failures of existing equipment. Hevvy/Toyo pumps provide a long-term, high-performance alternative, reducing the need for expensive rentals while lowering overall operational costs through superior durability and reduced maintenance requirements.
